Are the days of the Field Marshal in Tampa over?
TAMPA BAY - After a loss to the New England Patriots , coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Greg Schiano told the media that he never considered laying quarterback Josh Freeman . Now he has changed his mind .
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media Insider reported that Freeman was benched in favor of rookie Mike Glennon , according to an informed source with moviento . Glennon will be the one to start on Sunday September 29 when the Bucs host the Arizona Cardinals.
Rapoport reported on NFL Network program , "NFL AM " , the Bucs wanted to make the move to Glennon before the team had its rest in Week 5 , so the rookie will have two weeks to review the corrections after making his first start .
It was only a matter of time before they pull the trigger. Freeman was the initiator of Tampa quarterback from the middle of his rookie season in 2009 , but his 24-35 record marked his inconsistent play .
Off the field, Freeman , in the final year of his contract , was news earlier this month for not attending the team photo because he " fell asleep " . Days later, his companions he was selected as team captain for the first time since his rookie season .
Meanwhile, first Schiano said last July: " I believe in competition , and Mike Glennon will become a great quarterback in time. But we have a quarterback , Josh Freeman is " .
The Bucs Draft in the past used a third- round Glennon to take a strong arm pin of the State of North Carolina, who was seen warming up during the game against the Patriots. Freeman entered this season on shaky ground under a coaching staff that he inherited . As suggested in "Around the League Podcast " usually means that a change is coming.
After much thought on the future of Tampa , on the Bucs Freeman may already ended .
